Vytautas Magnus University Rating

In May of this year, international experts from the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education visited Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) in Kaunas. In all categories the university was highly rated, and as a result is accredited for the maximum seven-year period. The experts confirmed that this university is unique in Europe for the flexibility of its curriculum and its successful participation in the European university alliance “Transform4Europe”, the establishment of its Ukraine Centre, and the excellent quality of its scientific research and infrastructure.

The institution was also rated as “very good” in management, curriculum and research as well as its influence on regional and national development, with a “good” rating for quality control.

In amalgamating with Aleksandras Stulginskis University and the Lithuanian Academy of Learning, VDU’s performance was deemed very good in the development of the management process, successfully synergizing the universities and raising the employees’ salaries.

VDU offers a wide selection of services for its workers and students. Particular attention was given to the Ukraine Centre in Vilnius which was visited by 24,000 Ukrainians over this year, with various cultural, educational and social activities. It is the first such centre in the world, established by the President of Lithuania, the Ukrainian Embassy and VDU.

The university is highly valued for its flexible, dynamic curriculum, based on traditional liberal studies and allowing students to coordinate their own program. It also offers excellent international opportunities for students, teachers, scientists and other workers, for example, as a member of “Transform4Europe”.

The influence of VDU on regional and national development was highly rated by the panel. The university works closely with various social institutions and adopts their recommendations. It also offers long-term learning potential for a wide variety of students.

 University assessments are required by law to be performed every five years.
