Lithuania’s Silvester Belt with his song Luktelk finished in 14th place in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden on Saturday, May 11. Switzerland’s Nemo with their song The Code emerged victorious in Eurovision 2024. This is the third time Switzerland won the song contest.
Lithuania received a total of 90 points in the Eurovision final, with the national juries awarding 32 points, and 58 points coming from televoters. Silvester Belt received points from the juries of 8 countries: Portugal (7), Serbia (7), Ukraine (5), Moldova (5), the Netherlands (4), Estonia (2), Germany (1), and France (1).
“Today was a difficult day. I’m glad I managed to concentrate and focus on the performance. I think the performance went well, and the energy just exploded,” Silvester Belt said after the final. During his Eurovision trip, Silvester has become close friends with the winner Nemo from Switzerland. “I’m very happy and excited about their victory. We saw a performance that will go down in history. I think that every year Eurovision is won by someone who unlocks something in Europe. Nemo unlocked a lot of hearts. I’m proud of them,” the Lithuanian singer said.
This year, 25 countries participated in the Eurovision final after the Dutch singer Joost Klein was disqualified over an alleged conflict with a female member of the production crew. The Eurovision Song Contest has been held annually since 1956. Lithuania debuted at the contest in 1994.
Lithuania’s best-ever result was sixth place in 2006, when LT United, a quintet of famous Lithuanian singers, performed the song entitled We Are The Winners in Greece.
