On Thursday, September 23, the Kaunas IX Fort Museum will host a commemoration of the Genocide of Lithuanian Jews at the Victims of Nazism Monument. During the program, students of the Jonas Jablonskis High School will read memoirs by the children of the ghetto.
Attendees will be able to visit the Museum and will be introduced to the Kaunas 2022 project “Ecce homo: for those who remained“ and the participating artists.
One of them is Bruce Clarke, a descendent of Lithuanian Jews, or Litvaks. His grandparents were from Kaunas, and managed to emigrate to South Africa, with no surviving relatives in Lithuania after the Holocaust. B. Clarke has created many commemorative projects in Rwanda and other countries.
After the commemoration, a Holocaust in Lithuania excursion will be available.
