The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Canada together with the Lithuanian Canadian Community, its chapter organizations across Canada and the Canadian Lithuanian Youth Association invites the general public to join the first ever virtual celebration of Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania on Tuesday, February 16th 19:00 EST.
Some highlights of the event include:
- A personalized greeting for Lithuanians in Canada from prof. Vytautas Landsbergis, Chairman of the Supreme Council – Reconstituent Seimas
- Greetings from high-level officials of Canadian and Lithuanian governments
- A joint celebratory greeting by Lithuanian organizations in Canada
- A live music performance by musical theatre soloists from the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies of the University of Applied Sciences (lead by Dalia Abarė) featuring Canadian and Lithuanian songs chosen for this event at the House of Signatories in Vilnius.
The event is financed by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Canada, the Lithuanian Canadian Foundation, Talka Credit Union, Resurrection Credit Union and Parama Credit Union. Director and screenwriter – Dalius Abaris. The event will be broadcast in Lithuanian and English (with English subtitles).
How to participate?
A link to the event will be shared on the Embassy’s website and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) on the morning of Tuesday, February 16.
A “pre-concert” 15-minute ZOOM call will take place from 18:45- 19:00 EST. The purpose will be to have a short discussion about the significance of this day and facilitate a group “screengrab” photo. All photos will be published by the Embassy on Tuesday, February 16 to send a Canada-wide congratulations to Lithuania on its National Day.
