Valentine’s Day Celebration at Labdara

This pandemic that we are living through has had a profound effect on us all, especially on our residents at Labdara Nursing Home. Yet this year, even though visitors were not allowed to visit their loved ones, we were still able to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day!

We thank the Dirmantas-Groen in’t Woud family for initiating and organizing a greeting card collection together with the Church of the Resurrection. We also thank the local Lithuanian organizations and the many individuals who helped to write cards to the residents and staff while spreading the news about this project.  As well, another big thank you to the numerous non-Lithuanian speaking families who contributed an overwhelming number of greeting cards!

Vida and her daughters, Aleksa, Jacintha, and Tessa, in addition to writing a greeting card for each resident, made plenty of posters to decorate our hallways and show gratitude to all the staff who work so tirelessly in keeping our residents safe and healthy.

We are very appreciative of the outpouring of love from the community, helping to make our residents feel so loved during this time of isolation from their families.  Thank you!
