Dalia Grybauskaitė awarded for work with European Commission

Former Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaitė was nominated for the World Economy Award for her responsibility and foresight working in the European Commission in tackling challenges related to the European Union’s budget reform, leading the country and overcoming crises, leading the country into the euro zone, opposing Russia and enhancing Lithuania’s security and defence.

The annual World Economics Award is presented by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy to influential political, scientific and business personalities in recognition of their outstanding contribution to sustainable wellbeing, combining economic efficiency with social justice and environmental sustainability, and promoting dialogue between politicians, scientists and business people. This year’s theme was “Location policy between state and market”, and the award aims to highlight the global economy’s challenges across national borders. LRT.lt
