Lithuanian Railways will be operating four trains decorated for the Christmas season as a way to encourage more passengers to use public transport instead of private cars.

“This year, we can already say with certainty that the Christmas trains, which are very popular with passengers, are becoming a tradition, encouraging sustainable travel […]. As every year, this initiative invites you to experience a journey on trains decorated with the themes of Orient Express or the Christmas Story. We see that the demand for special journeys grows every year, so this year, together with Go Vilnius, we will offer a choice of four different trains,” said railway representative Dovilė Aleksandravičienė.

The four trains will be serving four routes until January 7: Vilnius–Kaunas, Vilnius–Klaipėda, Vilnius–Trakai and Vilnius–Mockava. The latter connects to a train to Warsaw. The decorated cars will be serving the route until December 26, after which they will start running on the new Vilnius–Riga line.
