International Green Week Berlin is one of the most traditional trade fairs nationwide and one of the best-known events in Germany. Founded in 1926 in the Berlin of the Golden Twenties, it is unique as the leading international trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture. Exhibitors from all over the world present an extensive range of products on ten event days. In addition, the IGW gives current social issues such as climate protection, circular economy, resource conservation and sustainable land use a stage. The 87th edition of the Green Week is taking place from January 20 to 29, 2023. The IGW is the starting point for the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA). The GFFA is the leading international conference on key issues for the future of the global agriculture and food industry. The highlight is the meeting of more than 70 ministers of agriculture.

Each year the exhibition welcomes the newest food products. It is attended by not only by locals, but also food industry, wholesale and retail representatives, restaurants, agricultural importers and experts, horticulturalists and commercial fishery specialists.

This year, Lithuania is represented by twelve producers. The agriculture ministry’s display includes products from the Radviliškis bakery, elk and venison from the Šerno pėda company, organic honey from Medaus namai, mead and candy from Šušvės midus and products from Evija & Partner, as well as “super-berry” buckthorn products, pressed cottage cheese and organic jams. Visitors are impressed by Lithuanian branch cakes “ šakočiai“, as well as Lithuanian handicrafts. The Lithuanian countryside tourism association (LCTA)  is also participating at the fair to promote travel of a different type (https://www.countryside.lt/). Radviliškis bakery welcomed visitors on opening day with a loaf of bread one and one-half metres long. It is a traditional rye bread, called “Farmer’s bread”.

More than 400,000 visitors are expected at the Green Week Exhibition, where they will be able to sample products from 72 countries with 1400 exhibitors.

Switzerland combines innovation with tradition at Green Week. The delicious cheese kebab and a raclette robot are featured.
