Lithuanians at the Swimming World Cup

The 2022 FINA Swimming World Cup 2nd Leg was held in Toronto from October 28 to 30. Participants in the swimming event included five athletes from Lithuania: Rūta Meilutytė, Danas Rapšys, Andrius Šidlauskas, Tomas Navikonis and Silvija Statkevičius. Ranking highest in the competition were double Olympic medallists Rūta Meilutytė and Danas Rapšys.

As of the FINA competition, Rūta Meilutytė ranks fifth in the world in women’s swimming. In the 50 m women’s breast stroke, she finished first, with a time of 28.96, edging out US swimmer Lilly King’s 29.20, and winning gold for the 100 m event. She now has four gold medals in all.

Rapšys won a bronze medal for the 400 m freestyle event, and Andrius Šidlauskas came in fifth in the men’s 200 m breast stroke.

Silvija Statkevičius ranked 23rd in the women’s 100 m freestyle swim.

The finals for the FINA World Cup are being held in Indianapolis, from November 3 to 5.
