Earlier this summer, Canadian author Antanas Šileika, whose novels have been translated into Lithuanian, participated in the second World Lithuanian Writers’ Conference held in Vilnius on June 28–30. Initiated in 2019, the conference invites authors from many countries whose work in Lithuanian or other languages reflect a Lithuanian identity. This year 20 authors, literary critics and translators attended the event organized by the Lithuanian World Community, the Lithuanian Institute of Literature and Folklore, the Lithuanian Writer’s Union, and the Martynas Mažvydas National Library. The program included a variety of readings, the launch of an anthology of world Lithuanian writers (Egzodika 2), an exhibtion of books and discussions with Lithuanian publishers.

In attendance were Gintaras Bleizgys (Lithuania), Rūta Baublytė Kaufmann (Switzerland), Sandra Petraškaitė-Pabst (Germany), Dalia Staponkutė (Cyprus), Kristina Janušaitė-Valleri (Italy), Antanas Šileika (Canada), Paul Jaskunas (USA), Vilma Kava (USA), Valdas Aušra (USA), Aušra Matulevičiūtė (France), Rasa Kochanauskaitė-Raižienė (Ireland), and Jolanta Ona Vitkutė (Mexico).
