Plan for Next Summer!

Summer months are the best time for students from abroad to take courses Lithuanian language and culture in Kaunas and Vilnius. This year participants came from 22 countries to learn the language and to experience the essence of being Lithuanian. Most of the students were from Ukraine (44), with another 56 from Latvia, Poland, Germany, Morocco, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Azerbaidjan, USA, Portugal, Czechia and elsewhere.

The summer courses include lectures by historians, philosophers, political analysts, and other well-known personalities. Excursions are organized to various points of interest in Kaunas and Vilnius, as well as Trakai, Anykščiai, Plateliai, Nida and Aukštadvaris Regional Park.

This summer, with so many refugee students from Ukraine, part of the program addresses their concerns. For example, on Sandwich Day at the Ukrainian centre in late July, students sold their home-made sandwiches to raise funds for an art therapy program for Ukrainian children.

Other types of courses are also offered. For details, see the Baltic Summer University website at https://balticsummeruniversity.com/. Registration opens in February. Alkas.lt
