Lithuania at Cannes Festival

The 76th International Cannes Film Festival began on May 17, with the Marché du Film gathering thousands of professionals of the global film industry from producers to distributors, buyers, programmers and more. Lithuania is participating for the 13th time, with three producers at the Producer’s’ Network.

The first is Klementina Remeikaitė (of the production company “Afterschool“), whose successes include “Piligrimai“ (directed by Laurynas Bareiša) and “Paradas“ (dir. Titas Laucius). The second is Rūta Jekentaitė (of “Baltic Productions”), whose documentary “Roberta”, directed by Elena Kairytė premiered at the “Hot Docs“ documentary festival in Canada earlier this year. Also participating was winner of two awards at Meeting Point Vilnius for “Požerskis: Ryškiai” (directed by Joris Skudra) producer-director Justė Michailinaitė. This film won the AVAKA prize for best Lithuanian project and the special Marché du Film Producers’ Network award.

Also shown during the Marché du Film is a film directed by Tomas Vengris for the Tallinn Black Nights Festival program “Goes to Cannes”, produced by Lithuanian Uljana Kim: “Five and a Half Love Stories in a Vilnius Apartment” (Penkios su puse meilės istorijos, nutikusios viename Vilniaus bute).

Lithuanian participation is financed by the Lithuanian Film Centre.
