In early March, the Lithuanian Youth Association in the UK organized a virtual job fair which Lithuanians studying abroad could access to find out about career opportunities in Lithuanian companies, both in the country and abroad. Experts from 20 different organizations shared their knowledge in the fields of life sciences, computer technology, electronics, finance, sustainable energy, pharmaceuticals and many others. There were 130 students from abroad participating.
The event was sponsored by Ignitis Grupė, EY Baltics, Nasdaq Vilnius, PwC Lithuania, Littelfuse, and Bentley Systems, Inc., whose representatives described their work. Kaunas IN presented information on tourism and investment in Kaunas, and volunteering was discussed by the Sidabrinė organization. Governmental bodies such as Invest Lithuania and Grįžtu.lt also had representatives providing advice on joining their teams.
The purpose of the job fair was to encourage Lithuanians studying abroad to return to their country, and to help Lithuanian international companies find young talent for work that could be useful for Lithuania. Students abroad need to know that Lithuanian businesses are ready to invest their time and resources to prove the motto “Lithuania is waiting”.
Create for Lithuania (Kurk Lietuvai) director Monika Merkytė outlined the possibilities for young people to work in the public sector. She explained that the program connects start-ups with the public sector and encourage discovering effective ways to solve governmental issues while providing opportunities for graduates to actualize their ideas and contribute to the nation.
