Lithuania has registered 2,861 new coronavirus infections and 28 deaths from Covid-19 as of October 14, according the national statistics office. This is the highest daily count since late December 2020, when the country reported over 3,200 new coronavirus infections.
Twenty-four of the latest fatalities were either not vaccinated or only partially vaccinated.
A total of 5,786 people were vaccinated over the 24-hour period ending on Thursday morning, including 2,139 with their first dose.
The total number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals has increased to 1,511, including 156 ICU cases. The 14-day infection rate rose to 1,038.7 per 100,000 people, and the seven-day percentage of positive tests went up to 11.5%. A total of 5,349 people have died of Covid-19 in Lithuania so far.
