Post-Covid European destinations tempt travellers

This year, summer begins with a record number of new destinations from Lithuanian airports. Current plans include at least 80 direct flights, 50 of which are being renewed now that COVID vaccinations have reached higher numbers and the European Union is ready to finalize a “green passport” or COVID-19 certificate as proof of vaccination for travellers. Aviation Services Chief Aurimas Stikliūnas notes that Southern European countries such as Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Croatia and others are dropping self-isolation requirements for visitors. All destinations leaving from Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports as well as travel advisories are listed on www.vilnius-airport.lt/kryptys.

At the beginning of June, new destinations include Milan, Italy (Ryanair), Billund, Denamark (Wizzair), and UK cities Doncaster (Wizzair), Liverpool (Ryanair) and London’s Luton Airport (Ryanair). Ryanair will also fly Lithuanian passengers to Corfu, Chania, Rome and Malta. AirBaltic will go to Dubrovnik, and Wizzair – to Larnaka in Cyprus. In mid-June direct flights to to Berlin, Frankfurt, and Bremen will be available, with convenient travel to many destinations in the UK, Greece and other countries. The popular Wizzair and Ryanair airlines are also offering a variety of destinations from the Kaunas and Palanga airports as well.
