Among this year’s winners of the Huawei company’s smartphone photo and video competition “Next Image”, three of the best contenders were Lithuanian. Their submissions were ranked among the 54 best in the world. Competitors from more than 170 countries entered the contest, with a total of 3 million submissions. Most of them where from China, the Phillipines, Egypt, Indonesia, Poland and Italy. The three winners were awarded $10,000 (USD), and winners in 24 categories received $1,500 (USD) each. The twenty-seven who reached second place will each get the newest Huawei P50 Pro.
The nine photo categories were Art and Fashion, Outdoors, Portraits, Sports, Hello Life, Storytelling and Action. For videographers the categories were short films (5 minutes) and long films (5 to 30 minutes). A jury of experts chose three winners from all nine categories, 24 category winners and 27 runners-up.
Lithuanians Nemira Čiačienė came in second in the Portrait category with “Mama”, and Daiva Seibelienė placed second as well in Art and Fashion with her photo “Algimantas“. Lithuanian photographer Guoda Kaminskė was chosen one of the winner in the Art and Fashion category for her photo: “Brushing Teeth”.
The “Huawei Next Image“ competition hopes to inspire smartphone owners to capture their memories and embrace innovations, said Eglė Gailienė, marketing director for Huawei in the Baltic. Other photos can be seen at: gallery.consumer.huawei.com
