IN Memoriam Helen Juodvalkis

Passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Petras Juodvalkis, cherished mother of Linda, Sylvia (Randy), and William (Lorraine), and grandmother to Danya, Tamara, and Skye.

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Helena immigrated to Canada in 1959 where she and Petras married and settled in Oshawa to raise their family. Helena was a devoted mother, a talented seamstress, and a devout Catholic. She loved singing (particularly opera), dancing (Viennese waltzes), needlepoint, travelling, and spending time in her beautiful garden admiring her roses.

Helena was proud of her Lithuanian and Brazilian heritage and could speak many languages, including Lithuanian, Portuguese, and English. Her passion for education, reading, and music was something she shared with her family. She will be dearly missed.

After cremation and a private family service Helena’s final resting place will be at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery, Anapilis, in Mississauga.

The family would like to thank the staff of Parkwood Mennonite Home for their care and compassion over the years. In memory of Helena, donations can be made to the Parkwood Mennonite Home or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
