Facilities newly transferred from the Institute of History

On May 26 director of the Lithuanian Institute of History, Dr. Alvydas Nikžentaitis, and the director of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania Dr. Vydas Dolinskas signed an agreement renewing bilateral cooperation, and transferring the Institute’s property at 5 Kražių street in Vilnius to the Palace, providing the famous museum with a total of 3500 square metres of new space in a strategic location. In the near future this will be opened as a new facility for the preservation of national artifacts, research, restoration and education.

Both the Institute and the Museum will continue developing their educational and scientific goals, cultural activities and publications in the field of Lithuanian and European heritage.The two have been collaborating successfully for over 10 years, organizing commemorative programs and cultural projects to promote historical memory and national pride.

Plans include cosmetic renovations and the transfer of storage, office and laboratory facilities by the end of this year, with specialized storage and other innovations to be initiated in 2022.
