In Antwerp, Belgium, the weekend of April 30-May 1 will be dedicated to events commemorating Lithuanian artist and composer M.K. Čiurlionis, including concerts featuring his symphonic poems “Miške” (In the Forest) and Jūra (Sea). This will be the most significant presentation of Čiurlionis’ work in Belgium since 2013, organized by the Čiurlionis House in Vilnius, with the Lithuanian Embassy in Belgium and other partners. An exhibition of Čiurlionis’ work will take place as well, presented by his great-grandson Rokas Zubovas. Nearing the 150th anniversary of Čiurlionis’s birth, the cultural event in Antwerp will be the first of several events meant to raise awareness about him in various countries.
